history of the Auglaize county fair
Established in 1852, the Auglaize County Fair has been a proud tradition in Wapakoneta, Ohio for 174 years and counting. Founded by early agricultural leaders of Auglaize County, the fair was created to celebrate farming, livestock, and community—values that remain at the heart of the fair today. What began as a small agricultural exhibition has grown into one of Ohio’s most respected county fairs, welcoming tens of thousands of visitors each year. The fair has evolved over generations while staying rooted in its mission to support agriculture, youth development, and family traditions. Today, the Auglaize County Fair is known for its outstanding livestock shows, 4-H and FFA programs, exciting grandstand entertainment, harness racing, and a family-friendly atmosphere that brings together exhibitors, volunteers, and fairgoers from across the region. Many families have participated for multiple generations, making the fair a living legacy of community pride. As it enters its 174th year, the Auglaize County Fair continues to honor its past while investing in the future—providing opportunities for youth, supporting local businesses, and creating unforgettable summer memories for generations to come.
